Producer’s Thought
Drawing inspiration from the traditional Buddhist story of Prince Nanda—who was so utterly captivated and distracted by his wife, Janapadakalyānī, that he struggled to maintain his spiritual practice—”Focus” translates that classic tale into a modern relationship dynamic. It celebrates the dizzying rush of being madly, deeply in love while recognizing the sheer comedy and chaos of trying to get actual work done when your partner is a total distraction. Rather than lacking affection, it’s a lighthearted plea for a little ekaggatā (one-pointed concentration) during workday hours, reminding us that sometimes the sweetest suffering is trying to build a future while your favorite person is standing right in front of you in your oversized T-shirt.
I hope you enjoy this track. May you be well and happy.
