Day 3: Shopping in ChongQing

Started the day with a sumptuous breakfast buffet at Intercontinental Chongqing. I stayed at a cheaper establishment across the road but had heard raving reviews about breakfast there. At usd 30 per pax, you get mind boggling choices of good food.

The restaurant has a theme of food trucks in a park and all of these are taking place high above ground

Lizhiba station

The unique experience of living in a mountainous region extends to the city’s train system too. One moment, you’re traveling through a tunnel carved into the mountain, and the next, you’re watching the train pass directly through an apartment building that doubles as a subway station. Welcome to Liziba Station, where engineering marvels meet everyday life in Chongqing.

And if you are a resident there, you’ll be amused and irritated by the crowd outside your apartment everyday.

Next, I visited a repurposed factory up in the hills, complete with small apartments for workers who lived in that community. This gem of China’s past is now a happening place for youngsters to shop and chill.

I made the mistake of walking there from the nearest subway station. On the map, the distance looked short but unbeknownst to me, that short distance involved climbing up endless flights of stairs through a ‘vertical village’.

I finally mastered courage to try street food and was so glad I did so. Love the new exotic taste. Plus I was eating by the roadside without proper utensils, and had to rely on bamboo pick.

The winter wear is sooo reasonably priced and the variety and styles are mind blowing. unfortunately, I don’t need any of them because I live in a tropical country.

I found an entire clothing store located under a park and it led to a huge underground space filled with retail space targeted at youths.

It’s like an underground football field of clothings.

So I couldn’t resist buying a little cafe for myself. A diy scaled model.

There’s still a kid in me

It was a very exciting day for me as I experienced new things in Chong Qing. I called a grab and an electric car picked me up. It has glass ceiling! like a sci-fi movie.

That’s all for today.

May all be well and happy.
