This temple is situated on top of a mountain that offers a great view of Chiangmai. According to legends, the relic of Buddha is enshrined within the golden pagoda here.
Buddhist devotees circumambulate this sacred monument continuously and beautiful Buddha statues are placed around it.
To reach this temple, you can walk up the mountain along the road. I saw cyclist, joggers, hikers along the way. I think it is a tough climb because of the distance. (Approximately 2 hours of walking) The weather is really hot and the tired faces of these trekkers say it all.
I choose the comfort of using Grab driver, which is the equivalent of Uber. Going up from Ninman area cost me 333 bhat. Coming down is half the price. So basically I am paying an incentive for the driver to bring me up the mountain. These drivers will wait around at the top and they charge less for going back into town.
A more economical option is to catch a public transport from the entrance of the zoo. You will see rows of red colour Songthaew and they provide dedicated transport up the mountain. The price starts from 50 bhat and I think should not cross the 150 bhat threshold. Otherwise , you might as well hire a car and travel in comfort.

May all be well and happy
