Producer’s Thought

I penned the following verse back in my youth: “斩断情丝修禅定，不贪不求不自立，只愿众生识佛性，不惜自我段情欲“—“Severing the threads of worldly affection, with no craving, no grasping, and no self-interest, I only wish all sentient beings to recognize their inherent Buddha-nature, Unsparing of the ego, completely cutting off worldly passions.” At that time, I was struck by an immense longing to become a monk.

Most people would look at text like that and immediately think of a slow, meditative, incense-burning ambient track.

…And honestly? Where’s the fun in that?

Instead of sitting quietly in the corner, I wanted to take that intense, ancient quest for spiritual awakening and pump it full of pure adrenaline. We kept the core of the message—letting go of the ego, cutting off the illusions of craving, and wanting everyone to see their own inner light—but we cranked the tempo up to 122 BPM and turned it into an explosive power-pop anthem.

This is about waking up, shedding the heavy chains of desire, and doing it with a massive beat and zero hesitation. This is ‘Cut Off’.”
